Review from Metal Hammer
Issue #213, Jan 2010
Valpurgis Night are a London trio who sound more mature and stylish than perhaps would be expected by a band just two years old. At times hinting at Judas Priest, at others of Sepultura, there's also no doubting the inspiration they've taken from the NWOBHM era whilst steering clear of straight up tribute territory. Although they can heavy it up decently, as is proven on Wraith and Council Of Dark Shadows, Valpurgis Night prove to be at their best when going for a more sensitive approach. The best song here is unquestionably the acoustically underpinned Woken By The Silence, which is reminiscent of Opeth - and that's no bad thing. A long way from essential, but Psalms proves this band's potential.
